Related CBA activities across a wide range of length scales are investigating the foundations of fabrication in locally encoding global structures. Macroscopically, a "shape grammar" for wood frame construction was developed to represent the design of a building in coded joints:which can be assembled from press-fit panels produced with two-dimensional rapid-prototyping tools.
